Awards

The village of Malečov, along with 28 other villages, entered the regional round of the “Village of the Year 2026” competition. In mid-June, a presentation of the village was held at the Malečov Center before a 12-member committee. The mayor, the association’s chairperson, and the principal of the elementary school and kindergarten each gave a presentation. The committee visited the Malečov Cultural Center to see the library and the ceramics workshop, stopped by the fire station, and finally toured the elementary school, where the principal gave the main presentation. The results of the regional round were announced on July 27, 2026, in the winning village of Blatno. The village of Malečov, represented at the announcement by the association’s chairman, was awarded two certificates: one for the construction of the Center and one for its work on historical memory. It was precisely the topic of historical memory (Babiny I—a vanished village, the restoration of the wind pump in Němčí, and the “Restoration of Memory” nature trail) that the association’s chairman focused on in his presentation to the committee.
