Renovation of the pedestal begins
On September 4, 2025, stonemason Josef Sotona began work on renovating the base of the Řetouň I cross. Soon after starting work, he discovered that the flat iron stump protruding from Golgotha was not original. This was already evident before its removal by the fact that it was encased in concrete. When the stump was removed, Golgotha, which was already in poor condition, broke into several pieces, revealing the remains of the original cross's thorn encased in lead.
