1. Chronicle of Němčí
In 2022, the association provided the translation of the Němčí Chronicle, which contains only two mentions related to the wind pump. The first is about digging the spring, the second is about funding the pump. The relevant pages of the chronicle are shown in the preview below.
2. Walther Schieber: Energiequelle Windkraft (published probably in 1942)
This publication documents selected wind turbines in Germany in its second annex. For example, on pages 133, 135, and 137, wind turbines of the Dresden company Vereinigte Windturbinen-Werke (VWW) are documented. This company took over Rudolph Brauns' firm in 1911 and very likely supplied a wind turbine for the water pump for the company Ernst Jüstel from Ústí nad Labem, which was building the water supply system in Němčí.
3. Jiří Jaroš: Wind Turbines in the South Moravian Region
Technical Museum in Brno, 1989, Proceedings No. 5
The text in the preview below is an abbreviated form taken entirely from the proceedings.
4. Ant. Kunz: Water Mining Catalog (published at the end of the 19th century)
An extensive catalog describes and promotes all possible uses of wind energy, especially for pumping water into water tanks and further distribution to houses, but also for irrigation in agriculture, powering mills, machines, etc. Naturally, it features wind motors from the KUNZ company, based in Hranice na Moravě. Selected pages of the catalog are previewed as an insight into water pumping, although without a direct link to the wind pump in Němčí.
5. Jan Doubek, Břetislav Koč, Radim Urbánek: What the Wind Was Spinning
The most comprehensive treatise to date on windmills and turbines in the Czech Republic.
This is the first work that deals with the history of windmills, as well as their construction, functions, grinding methods, and repair and conservation techniques. The text, together with almost 500 pictures, fills over 340 pages, describing about 300 existing and defunct wind-powered devices. The book presents their development, nomenclature, construction forms, and historical context. In addition to information about specific buildings, the book also provides interesting insights into the miller's craft.
It can be purchased, for example, in bookstores at Judith's Tower. Published by PhDr. Ivo Sperát in Brno in 2020.
